In this exercise video we’re going to look at a dynamic exercise that will help warm up all the large muscle groups in your lower body; the high knees walk and run. These muscles – the glutes and the quads – will do a lot of work when you play so make sure you do your training well and your fitness will improve. To begin with walk out raising your knees up high whilst keeping your arms down by your sides. Gradually increase the speed of the action to a medium pace run. Keep your weight slightly forward with your upper body in a relaxed posture.

You can then progress to moving your opposite arm up to your chin with your elbow at right angle to warm up your shoulders and arms at the same time. This action makes it a whole body exercise and you should keep your head up and look forward as you do it.
