Before you play tennis it’s very important to warm up both physically and mentally. You need to be ready to play your best tennis from the first point of the game and you need to be able to make the most of your playing warm up too. Warming up properly also means that you are less likely to get injured and your body will recover more quickly too.

In this series of exercise videos we’ve provided a range of warm up exercises that you can combine to get fully prepared to play, and other exercises that you can use to warm up for an off court training session. Some exercises will be more challenging than others and in all cases you can begin with a lower intensity, or with lower repetitions or movement, to help make the exercise less strenuous as your muscles warm up.

The objective of the this series of exercise work outs is to warm and stretch the muscles but it’s very important that you do this dynamically through movement, and not statically. It’s best to start gently and then increase your work rate and you should always begin with the easier exercises like a gentle jog, before moving onto the more complex exercises that involve a greater range of movement or higher intensity.
