In this guide we are going to look at the cross trainer. This piece of equipment is ideal for those who are after an all round cardio workout. Due to the motion it offers a low impact session that will help tone and shape both your arms and legs.

Key Points

  1. The key to the action is to stride forwards with your legs alternately, so that you gain momentum and get used to the movement.
  2. Ensure that you are working through a full natural range and that your movement is smooth, controlled and continuous.
  3. Keep your hips still during the exercise and prevent unnecessary movement by lightly contracting your lower abdominals. Make sure your shoulder blades are squeezed together and your chest & head are up and facing forward for the duration of the exercise.
